A Special Message
from Irma Curry Seemingly,
someone erroneously has made a concerted effort
to tell the world that Decca Records mistakenly put IRMA CURRY’S name
on its
label, as being the vocalist on “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” instead
of his.
And, that other vocals thought to be Ms. Curry was (not) her.
Really? Well, where are these records? Who has actually ever seen them, not even IRMA CURRY, who in any event is surely not to blame. That is so ‘ancient ago’ and so very, very irrelevant. By now, most of the parties concerned are deceased, including Lionel Hampton. Ironically, according to (Decca’s files); on that same day, in that same studio, Ms. CURRY (really) did record her beautiful rendition of “I’ll Never Be Free”. So, who (really) cares about those ‘ghost records’ or if they ever existed? Incidentally, “Who Cares” in another tune recorded on Decca Records by IRMA CURRY, with the late Lionel Hampton. Really! In a recent magazine interview, MS CURRY clarified the matter, admirably calling Jimmy Scott a “unique and gifted performer”. After being informed that she, (IRMA CURRY) is Jimmy Scott’s very favorite singer, her response was “Me? I’m quite surprised and deeply honored!” |
